T-Mobile is a mobile network operator headquartered in Bonn Germany. It is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and belongs to the Free Move Business Alliance. T-Mobile is a group of mobile phone corporate subsidiaries all under the ownership of Deutsche Telekom that operate GSM and UMTS networks in Europe and the United States. The "T" stands for "Telekom." Most subsidiaries of Deutsche Telekom have names beginning with "T-" like T-Home, T-Systems and T-Online.
Globally, T-Mobile has 101 million subscribers, making it the world's sixth largest mobile phone service provider by subscribers and the third largest multinational. In March 2008, the company announced acquiring Siemens Wireless Modules as part of the JOMA consortium. T-Mobile has introduced a new Pocket PC phone manufactured by Taiwanese phone-maker HTC into the U.S. The T-Mobile "Wing" features a blue soft-touch exterior, a touch-sensitive QVGA LCD screen, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and runs Windows Mobile 6.
The Wing is reportedly based on the HTC Atlas platform, and equipped with a 200 MHz OMAP 850 processor, 64 MB of RAM, and 128 MB of flash. HTC describes it as a successor to the MDA, which T-Mobile had announced earlier. The Wing is 30 percent smaller than its predecessor, the T-Mobile MDA. Its key features listed by T-Mobile include, 2.8-inch QVGA LCD, Quad band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) cellular communications, WiFi and Bluetooth wireless, 2 megapixel camera, Voice-activated functions, Micro SD memory card slot and a Speakerphone.
